FAQ/Shipping

FAQ:

What is Dallas Discount Reef?

It started out as a few tanks growing coral and turned into a garage coral farm.  As time progressed, we have expanded into many other things saltwater related.

Do you have more corals, and inverts than what is available online?

Yes, we have frags and corals that have not yet been posted.  This is a top priority for us, we appreciate your patience as we add more to the web page.

Do you sell fish and clean up crew?

When they are in stock, yes.

Are your SPS Corals Tank Raised?

Some of them are and we will marked as Tank Raised.

What is the shipping Policy?  See Below:

  1. We will do our best to make sure that the corals are packaged properly and that your order will arrive safely, alive, and healthy.
  2. Because we want to maintain quality and reduce stresses on the corals, we will only ship overnight and we will supply you with a tracking number if possible.
  3. We ship on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday of each week to any of the 48 contiguous states.  We will not ship internationally or to any of the non-contiguous states.
  4. Shipping will be a flat rate of $35 for orders under $249.99.  Any orders above $249 will ship for free.   This free shipping threshold was raised due to increased shipping cost, however this allows us to offer Lower Pricing on all of our corals!
  5. Please be aware of the weather when ordering corals.   Delays during shipping will cause the corals additional stress.  During the summer and winter months, we prefer to ship to a Fed-ex depot.  This will keep the package from cooking or freezing inside of a truck or on your front porch.  Leaving corals on the front porch until you come home from work during these extreme weather conditions greatly reduces the chance that the coral will survive.
  6. We reserve the right to delay shipping due to inclement weather.  We will strive to get you the product that you purchased as soon as possible.
  7. You should make sure that you or someone else is able to receive your coral on the first delivery attempt.  You will need to make sure that you are able to start the acclimation process immediately.   We will provide instructions regarding acclimation.
  8. Please contact us immediately at dallasdiscountreef@gmail.com if for some reason you are not satisfied with your purchase.  If there was any negligence on our part, please give us a chance to rectify the problem and resolve issue.
  9. We suggest that you use a quarantine tank, but it is not required.  However, we do not assume responsibility for any other fish, plants, or animals in your possession.
  10. Please contact us beforehand if you require a specific shipping date.  We will try to accommodate your requests if possible.
  11. All shipments are subject to Texas state sales tax.

Our “Arrive Alive” guarantee

  1. Our guarantee is that the coral that you purchase from us online will arrive alive.  This does not cover corals that are purchased locally.  If you unfortunately experience any losses within the first 48 hours, please send us an Email to dallasdiscountreef@gmail.com with a picture of the loss, your customer number and order number. The cost of the coral that you lost will be counted as store credit and be applied to your next coral purchase. We must be informed of the loss within the first three days of receiving the shipment.  Please note that the coral must really be dead to count it as a loss.  Discoloration does not count as a loss, as the stress of shipping can cause this phenomenon.  Shipping and packaging costs for reshipment is the responsibility of the customer.
  2. Our guarantee will be voided for any of the following reasons:
  3. You don’t inform us of the loss within the first 3 days of receiving the shipment.
  4. You refused to sign for the package or accept shipment on the first delivery attempt.
  5. The package is delayed for some reason, but you didn’t inform us immediately (within the first 4 hours) of the delay.
  6. You did not properly acclimate the coral.
  7. Your tank conditions were not acceptable nor was the tank properly cycled.
  8. You had your package delivered to the local shipping depot, but you did not pick up the package from the depot within 12 hours of the arrival.
